How to make name tracing worksheets
Make a clear tracing model from a familiar name, check the size, and print a page that is easy to use.

1. Type the name you want to practice
Open the name tracing generator and enter a first name such as Ava. Names can include Latin letters, spaces, apostrophes, and hyphens, up to 24 characters. The text stays in your browser. For a longer full name, use the custom handwriting maker and put each part on a separate line.
2. Choose a letter model
Title case makes Ava; uppercase makes AVA; lowercase makes ava. Choose dotted letters for a visible tracing outline, or choose light outlines or cursive. Keep the form consistent with the learner’s classroom example. The generator makes the traceable letters for you, so no font download is needed.
3. Add the writing lines and practice amount
Guidelines show a top line, a dotted middle line, and a baseline. Three trace rows give generous spacing, with a blank copy row at the end. Five or eight rows add repetitions. You can turn guidelines off if you want a simpler name template.
4. Check the printable preview
Read the spelling and look at the letter size before downloading. Long names shrink to fit the page. If a model looks crowded, use a first name or split the text across a custom worksheet. Ask the learner to trace one row and try the blank row; finishing every line is optional.
5. Print or download the name tracing PDF
Match US Letter or A4 to the printer paper, then use Print or Download PDF. In the print dialog, use actual size or 100% and remove browser headers and footers if necessary. See the printing guide for the complete settings.
