Create a name tracing worksheet

Title case shows a capital first letter, like Ava. Uppercase shows AVA; lowercase shows ava. Keep the guidelines on for a visible writing baseline, or switch them off for a simpler page.

Three trace rows leave more room for independent practice. Five or eight rows offer more repetition. Every version includes one blank copy row.

Dotted letters give the clearest path for a learner to follow. Light outlines keep the letter shape visible while leaving more white space for the pencil. Cursive offers a connected script example for learners who are already practicing that style. Start with the form used in the learner's classroom or handwriting program.

For a long name, the letters shrink to fit the line. If the result looks too small, use fewer words or print one part of the name at a time. A short, readable model is more useful than a crowded line.

Invite the learner to trace one row slowly, then try the blank row. You can point out the first letter, spaces, or a hyphen before they begin. There is no need to fill every row in one sitting; the sheet can be returned to later.
