A CreatePrintables alternative for name tracing
Both tools make free, personalized name practice sheets. The useful difference is what you need to make: a quick classroom set or a more decorative single worksheet.

| What matters | TraceTheName | CreatePrintables |
|---|---|---|
| Price | Free name worksheets; no account needed. | Free editable name tracing worksheet. |
| Single worksheet | Type a name to see a live page preview, then print or download a PDF. | Enter a name, choose repetitions and options, update the worksheet, then view, print, or download it. |
| Letter styles | Dotted, light outline, and cursive. | Multiple fonts, including guided print, bubble letters, and cursive. |
| Page layout | Portrait on US Letter or A4, with optional writing guides and a blank copy row. | Portrait or landscape; font color and repetition controls on its original name tool. |
| Classroom prep | Paste up to 25 names and download individual PDFs in one ZIP. | The original name tool takes one entered name at a time. CreatePrintables also has a separate multi-page practice pack for one name. |
| Beyond one name | Dedicated number, letter, and sight word tools. | A broad library of themed name, word, alphabet, number, and other printables. |
| When to use CreatePrintables instead | Choose TraceTheName when you want a fast portrait sheet or many student names in one download. | Choose CreatePrintables when you need landscape orientation, bubble letters, decorative choices, or its broader activity packs. |
Which should you open first?
For one straightforward practice page, both are reasonable. Try TraceTheName if you want to see the worksheet as you type, keep entered names in your browser, or prepare a class set. Its PDF and print layout are limited to portrait pages, and it does not offer the decorative borders or bubble style described by CreatePrintables.
Open CreatePrintables’ original name worksheet when those visual options matter. Its name practice pack may also be a better fit when you want varied activities for one child instead of repeated tracing rows.
Sources and scope
We used CreatePrintables’ original name tool, practice pack, and printables index for its published features. TraceTheName features are those available on this site. Check each live preview before printing a full class set.
