Letters that change the most from print
Most cursive letters look like slanted print with connecting strokes. A few change shape, and they are worth extra practice: cursive r rises to a small peak, cursive s has a pointed top and closed bottom, cursive z loops below the baseline, and cursive f reaches both above and below the line.
Four lowercase letters end high at the midline instead of at the baseline: b, o, v, and w. The letter after them starts from that high tie.
Capital letters vary between programs
About this cursive model
These models use Dancing Script, an open-license connected script font. It is not D’Nealian, Zaner-Bloser, or Handwriting Without Tears cursive, and it has no stroke-order arrows or numbered starting points. Compare the shapes with the learner’s classroom chart, and read the handwriting styles guide for the differences between school styles.
To practice whole words or sentences, use the cursive worksheet generator. For a name, use cursive name tracing.
