Transcript

The first week of kindergarten isn’t about finishing worksheets. It’s about feeling at home.

Here are five tiny writing activities, plus a teacher guide, in one free PDF. Quick walk-through. Six pages, US Letter, gray-scale friendly. No account. No email. Print what you need. Pick a familiar activity. Leave plenty of time for play.

First, the guide. A flexible five-day plan, and printing instructions. The day labels are suggestions, not a readiness test. Read directions aloud, try one row, and stop when interest fades.

One: my name. An adult adds a light pencil model. The child traces it, then tries a blank row. Want printed dotted names? Make a personalized sheet with the name generator.

Two: follow the paths. Straight, zigzag and wavy, with space to draw. Pencil control starts with lines.

Three: meet A, M and S. Uppercase and lowercase models, with blank copy lines. Match them to your classroom’s letter style.

Four: count and trace. Count the dots, then practice numbers one to five.

Five: shapes. Circles, squares and triangles, with room for a drawing of their own.

Adapt it to your learners. Choose letter models that match your classroom. Then pair the practice with conversation, drawing, and hands-on play. Want more? Make extra letter worksheets, number worksheets, tracing paths, or shape sheets. Teachers can also make up to twenty-five name PDFs with the class batch tool.

It’s free to share for home and classroom use. Keep the Trace the Name credit and links, and please don’t resell it. Sharing with other teachers? Link to the page, so they can download the pack and find the editable tools.

Your one thing to try today: print the my name page, and leave the rest for later. The pack is at trace the name dot com, slash first dash week dash kindergarten dash pack. Link’s in the description.
