THE PACK

What is in the Thanksgiving pack

The complete pack prints five pages. Three picture pages carry six copies each of a turkey, an acorn, and a pumpkin, all drawn as clean outlines with open space inside for coloring. A fourth page of curved paths gives a gentle pencil-control warm-up, and the last page asks the child to trace and then copy four words: thanks, turkey, family, and feast. The pictures are original drawings made for this site. Choose the complete pack for a classroom set, or open a single picture for a quick activity before a holiday break.

THE PICTURES

The turkey is a good coloring and counting page

The turkey outline has five round feathers fanned behind a plump body and a small head. A child can trace the whole shape, then color each feather a different color. Counting the feathers is a natural math task, and so is patterning: red, orange, yellow, red, orange. The shape has several overlapping curves, so it is the hardest of the three. Younger children may prefer to trace the feathers one at a time. The acorn is simpler: a rounded cap, a pointed nut, and a short stem. The pumpkin is the same drawing used in the fall pack, so a child who has already traced it will find it familiar.

WORDS

Words for a thankful week

Short vocabulary helps a child connect writing to the season. Thanks is the root of the holiday, and many teachers ask children to finish the sentence I am thankful for. Family is a longer word with a tall letter at the start and a descender at the end, so give it extra time. If you want to build a sentence, try the sentence tracing maker with lines such as I am thankful for my family. For a longer vocabulary list, the Thanksgiving words maker lets you edit every entry.

FOR THE CLASSROOM

Respectful and inclusive classroom use

Thanksgiving means different things in different families, and some children do not celebrate it. These pages keep the focus on harvest objects, gratitude, and family words, which can be used as a fall harvest activity at any time in November. Avoid assigning the pages as a requirement, and offer the fall pack as an alternative so every child has something to color. Teachers sometimes pair the turkey with a short conversation about what the child is thankful for and a drawing of that person or thing.

PRINTING

Print and use

  • Choose US Letter or A4 and print at actual size.
  • Select ink-saving gray when you print a class set.
  • Print the word page on its own for a quick spelling and handwriting check.
  • Staple the five pages together to make a small thankful booklet, with the child’s name on the front from the name tracing generator.
  • Use a pencil for tracing, and crayons for coloring after the pencil lines are finished.
